This space will contain information summarizing various projects that I have or am now undertaking (perhaps even future speculation as to what is to come!).
I am very annoyed at the available selection of financial programs out there. Many of them are Windows-based. Almost all of them are buggy and have some sort of highly proprietary database format. They don't seem to inter-work well with each other. In addition to that, it is difficult to find a Personal Accounting Software that provides more advanced analytical features without shelling out for the extra functionality of a Business Accounting package.
I felt that this would be a nice little project to experiment a bit with Ruby and Rails. I decided to call it project bling, at the moment.

Recently, I undertook the task of getting a real, working cross-compiler targeting i686-pc-mingw32 working. In the end it turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be. I suffered through numerous try-and-fail episodes, however.

I have been playing with this new Spartan 3E development board from Xilinx. It is an FPGA demo board with a number of interesting I/O devices on it. I have decided to chronicle our experience using my website.

When I was in high school, my friends and I built a computer-science lab so that we could take an AP course. It was based upon GNU/Linux, with a number of PC's acting as dumb terminals. I felt that it was one of our earliest “great” accomplishments. It was covered in the Cincinnati Post:
